Infosec Institute’s Glassdoor profile showed 2.9 out of 5 across 12 employee reviews on October 7, 2026, with 35% saying they’d recommend working there. The most recent one-star review, from November 2025, alleges large layoffs and outsourced development. Here’s what it says, and what it doesn’t prove.

What does the November 2025 Glassdoor review say?

The review is titled “Giant mess,” rated 1 out of 5, and dated November 14, 2025. The reviewer is an anonymous employee with no job title shown. Two lines from it:

“Laid off half the company summer 2025.”

“development outsourced to India.”

The reviewer also says there is no product roadmap and no product leadership. In fairness, they speak warmly about the coworkers who are still there.

Did Infosec Institute really lay off half its staff?

I can’t confirm it. This is one anonymous review, and neither Infosec nor Cengage has announced Infosec layoffs that I can find. What Cengage’s fiscal 2026 annual report does show is that company-wide severance costs rose to $32.5 million, from $18.4 million the year before. The report doesn’t say how much of that, if any, was at Infosec, so I’m not going to connect the two for you.

Cengage’s CFO has told investors the company is “managing costs” in Infosec, and the annual report records the full $101.6 million goodwill write-off and falling boot camp revenue. Those are facts from Cengage. The layoff figure is one employee’s claim.

Is this the first employee warning?

No. A 2024 Glassdoor review I covered in my post on the Cengage acquisition, described ten marketing leaders leaving in the years after the buyout and HR and IT being outsourced. (Read that review.)

Does this affect students?

Maybe, maybe not. Nothing in these reviews shows a link between staffing and any particular student’s experience, and I won’t pretend it does. If you’re considering a boot camp, the practical step is to ask who your instructor is, how long they’ve taught the course, and who you’ll contact for support after class.
